The human chakra system is a profound concept in yoga, representing the body’s energy centers. These chakras are believed to influence our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. According to yogic philosophy, there are seven main chakras, each associated with specific attributes and functions.
Yoga, which means “yoke”, is a practice that aims to connect the individual with the divine. It uses mental and physical exercises to bring together our everyday lives and our spiritual selves. This connection is achieved by moving through different levels of awareness, which are represented by the chakras.
A chakra is an energy center that takes in, processes, and sends out life force energy. The word “chakra” means “wheel” or “disk”, referring to a spinning sphere of energy. These energy centers are located along the spine, from its base to the top of the head. There are seven main chakras, each playing a crucial role in our overall well-being.
Let us explore these chakras in brief.
